Two Kurdish citizens, Khaleq Khizirzadeh and Rashid Lawandpour, were executed in Bandar Abbas and Karaj prisons on charges of drug trafficking.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the dawn of Monday, January 9, 2023, the death sentence of Rashid Lawandpour, a Kurdish citizen from Urmia, was carried out in the Rajaei Shahr prison of Karaj for charges related to drug trafficking. Also on the same day, Khaleq Khizirzadeh, 32, of Piranshahr, was executed in Bandar Abbas Central Prison.
According to an informed source, Rashid Lawandpour, from the village of "KhareGush" in Urmia, was arrested a few years ago on the charge of drug trafficking and was later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. Khaleq Khizirpour was arrested on the same charges two years ago.
The news of Rashid Lawanpour and Khaleq Khizirpour’s executions has not yet been announced in the state media or the official media of the Iranian judiciary.
