A Kurdish prisoner named Saeed Salimifar, from Urmia, died due to neglect by the Urmia Prison’s authorities to transfer him to medical centers.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on February 20, 2023, Saeed Salimifar, 39 years old and from the village of Sultanabad, Urmia, died due to the deliberate neglect of Urmia prison authorities in his treatment while being transferred to "Syed Shohada" hospital in this city.
Saeed Salimifar died at around 4:00 p.m. The Iranian government institutions kept his body in the hospital until Monday midnight without notifying his family.

This citizen was arrested and sentenced to death by the Iranian government forces on drug-related charges 18 years ago and has been in prison ever since.
Hengaw has learned that this prisoner spent 15 years in Qazvin and was transferred to Urmia Central Prison three years ago.
