On Monday, April 10, 2023, it was reported that Omid Shahmohammadi, a member of the Diwandareh branch of the Kurdistan Teachers' Union, had been arrested and transferred to Bijar Central Prison to serve a one-year sentence.
Omid Shahmohammadi had previously been sentenced to five years in prison, with four years of suspended imprisonment, by the first branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court. He was found guilty of "acting against national security" through membership in the Hayat Azad Kurdistan Party (Pajak).
According to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Omid Shahmohammadi was arrested on Saturday, April 8, 2023, after being summoned to the execution office of Diwandareh. He was then transferred to Bijar Central Prison to begin serving his sentence.
Omid Shahmohammadi was originally arrested by the Diwandara Intelligence Department on June 15, 2022. After 76 days of detention, he was released on bail from the Sanandaj Intelligence Department's detention center on September 8, 2022, in the amount of one and a half billion.
