Suleiman Abdi, a teacher and member of the Kurdistan Teachers' Union in Saqqez, has been sentenced to 8 months in prison and 70 lashes by the Iranian criminal court in this city.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, recently Suleiman Abdi, a teacher from Saqqez, was sentenced to eight months in prison and 70 lashes by Branch 105 of the Iranian Criminal Court in this city on the charge of "disturbing the public order and peace by participating in an illegal gathering in the Aichi cemetery".
Hengaw has been informed that this teacher's sentence of eight months of imprisonment has been changed to 720 hours of teaching to the people under the support of the Khomeini Relief Foundation, and the sentence of 70 lashes has been suspended for two years and six months.
On Sunday, March 19, 2023, this activist was arrested at his workplace without presenting any legal documents by the Iranian Intelligence Forces in Seqqez and was taken to the detention center of the Iranian Intelligence in Sanandaj.
On April 5, 2023, Suleiman Abdi was transferred from the Iranian Intelligence detention center in Sanandaj to Saqqez Central Prison, and finally, after 23 days of detention, on Monday, April 10, 2023, he was temporarily released with a bail of 200 million tomans (4,000 USD) until the end of the proceedings.
Earlier in 2022, Suleiman Abdi was arrested by Iranian government institutions due to his activities.
