A young woman and a victim of child marriage, named Maryam Soleimani, from the Aland region of Khoy, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province, was killed by her father and two brothers under the pretext of “honor”s after severe torture and her head being shaved.
According to the report received by The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Friday, 14 April 2023, Maryam Soleimani, 28 years old and from the village of "Qezel Akh" in the Aland region of Khoy City, was killed by His father and two brothers.
According to an informed source, following the publication of a private video of Maryam Soleimani, Maryam's father, after calling her home, along with his two sons, shaved his daughter's hair from the bottom and after severely beating and torturing her, hanged her.
Maryam Soleimani, who had three children, was forced to marry at the age of 15, and since then she has been living with her husband in the Qotur (Kotul) district of Khoy City.
In this regard, while condemning the murder of this young woman as a victim of patriarchal power, several civil activists of Kotul called on all citizens to act vigilantly and stand against the repetition of such tragedies.
