The death sentence of a prisoner named Amir Mehdi, accused of "Canonically outlawd" and "Promoting immortality", was executed in public in Maragheh city.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Thursday, May 25, 2023, Amir Mehdi’s death sentence was executed in public in Maragheh city.
Mahmoud Nemati, the prosecutor of Maragheh, in an interview with government news agencies, confirmed the execution of this prisoner. "The accused was arrested in 2016 based on numerous reports and public complaints" said Nemati.
Amir Mehdi was arrested 7 years ago on charges of "Canonically outlawd" and "Promoting immortality". He was imprisoned in Maragheh prison until the execution of the sentence.
During the current day, the death sentences of at least six other people named Ghader Bakhsh Dehani, Abdul Rasoul Jamshidi, Ali Piri, Mehdi Salari, Mohammad Daraie and Saeed Mohammadifar have been executed in Kerman, Urmia, Jiroft, Isfahan and Sanandaj prisons.
