Ilam: four arrested protestors initiated a strike by sewing their lips together

Vahid Chavaran, Naser Rezaee, and Mohammad Hossein Haseli, all from Abdanan, along with Dr. Bakhtiar Mohammadzadeh from Darreh Shahr, were Kurdish detainees who protested the conditions of their custody and the deteriorating health of Vahid Chavaran by sewing their lips together at the central detention center of Ilam.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, September 3, 2023, Vahid Chavaran, Naser Rezaee, Mohammad Hossein Haseli, and Dr. Bakhtiar Mohammadzadeh, the four detained protesters, initiated a hunger strike.
According to reliable sources, these detainees sewed their lips together as a protest within the detention center, starting this Monday, September 4th, while continuing their previous strike.
These sources added that the overall health condition of Vahid Chavaran has become extremely critical due to the "continuous enforcement of nerve agents within the detention center, resulting in involuntary behavioral reactions in this young man.
Dr. Bakhtiar Mohammadzadeh, who served as the manager of a pharmacy in Darreh Shahr, was arrested on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, subsequent to a summons and referral to the Ilam Intelligence Department.
Mohammad Hossein Haseli, a resident of Sarabbagh city in Abdanan county, was apprehended on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, during an operation conducted by Iranian government forces.
Vahid Chavaran was also taken into custody by government forces on Friday, June 23rd of this year.
Naser Rezaee, another arrested citizen, was taken into custody on Sunday, August 13, 2023, following a summons and referral to the Dehloran court. He had been previously arrested on Monday, May 22nd, of this year and subsequently released on bail.
