The custodial status of a Kurdish youth in Urmia remains unknown after his arrest

The custodial status of Ahmad Bekas (Shorsh), a young Kurdish citizen from Urmia, remains unknown following his arrest by intelligence forces during the anniversary of the (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) Women, Life, Freedom movement.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ahmad Bekas, a resident of the “Bawan” village in Sumay-ye Beradust, Urmia, was apprehended nine days ago during a forceful operation conducted by intelligence forces. His whereabouts have not been disclosed since his arrest.
 

Informed sources have revealed that the intelligence personnel forcibly entered Ahmad Bekas’s family residence, breaking doors and windows, before detaining him through intimidation and the use of violence.
 

As of now, comprehensive information regarding the reasons for Ahmad Bekas’s arrest and the charges against him remains elusive.
 

This incident took place during an intelligence force operation on the morning of Saturday, September 16, 2023.
