Political Activist and Women's Rights Defender Under Severe Torture and Medical Neglect in an Intelligence Detention Center in Tehran

Varisha Moradi, a political activist, women's rights defender, and member of KJAR (East Kurdistan Free Women Society), has endured brutal torture while in custody of the intelligence agency in Sanandaj (Sine) and has been consistently denied access to her necessary medication. She has spent nearly 70 days in detention.
According to reports received by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, Varisha Moradi, known as "Ciwana Sine," a political activist and KJAR member in Sanandaj, has been subjected to relentless torture by intelligence officials in Sanandaj with the aim of extracting coerced confessions. Recently, she was transferred to one of the high-security detention centers in Tehran.
According to a reliable source, the torture inflicted upon Varisha Moradi during her detention was so severe that she experienced vomiting blood on one occasion and lost consciousness completely.
The source added, "Varisha Moradi's migraine condition has significantly worsened during her 70 days in detention due to the denial of access to her necessary medications."
This political prisoner has been deprived of visits and has had no contact with her family since her arbitrary detention almost two months ago.
Varisha Moradi was apprehended by intelligence forces on Wednesday, August 1st, 2023, while traveling from Marivan to Sanandaj. She was subjected to brutal physical assault and torture during her arrest, and she was transferred to detention without receiving any medical attention.
