Child rights activist Sahar Soltani arrested by security forces in Bandar Anzali

Sahar Soltani, a Gilak child rights activist and PhD graduate in the philosophy of education from Kharazmi University, has been arrested by Iranian security forces in Bandar Anzali, Gilan Province. 

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Soltani was detained on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Following her arrest, she was taken to Rasht Prison, where she has been allowed only one brief visit with her brother. 

Sources close to the case stated that the authorities have not provided any explanation for her arrest or the charges brought against her. 

Sahar Soltani has been active for years in the field of children’s rights, particularly in promoting children’s literature, teaching philosophy to children, and developing social and educational skills for children and parents. 

No further details are available regarding her legal status or the reasons behind her detention.
