Arrest of Yasin Samsam for Execution of Prison Sentence

Yasin Samsam, a resident of Oshnovieh and one of the protesters arrested during the Women, Life, Freedom movement, has been apprehended and subsequently transferred to the central prison of this city to serve his 4-year and 9-month sentence.
According to reports obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, Yasin Samsam was summoned and referred by the execution branch of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Revolution of Oshnovieh for the purpose of carrying out his 4-year and 9-month prison sentence. He has now been relocated to the city's prison.
In June 2023, this protester was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison by the Oshnovieh Revolutionary Court on charges of "participation in protests leading to assembly and collusion agains national security". Additionally, for "willful destruction of private property through stone-throwing and involvement in transporting Koktol-Molotov" he received a one-year prison term and 80 lashes.
Hengaw had previously reported, citing a source close to Yasin Samsam's family, that this protester was denied the right to access legal counsel and family visits during his detention.
On Thursday, January 12, 2023 Yasin Samsam was arrested by the forces of the IRGC's intelligence department in the city of Oshnovieh and subsequently transferred to the city's prison. After nearly nine months of detention, he was released from Oshnovieh prison upon posting a bail of two billion and four hundred million tomans.
