The death sentence of Ali Shirzadeh, a 40-year-old Turkish resident from Jolfa, was carried out in Tabriz Central Prison. Shirzadeh had been convicted of “premeditated murder.”
According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place in the early hours of Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
The Iran Human Rights Organization confirms that three years ago, Shirzadeh, a father of one, was arrested and subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran for premeditated murder.
Notably, the news of Ali Shirzadeh’s execution has yet to be officially announced in government media, particularly outlets with close ties to the judiciary, as of the time of reporting.
As per data from the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights’ statistics and documentation center, within the past 11 months of this year, a total of 48 Turkish prisoners have faced execution in Iranian prisons.
