Hengaw: Wednesday, November 29, 2023

From March 22, 2023, until now, within a period of eight months and four days, 19 Kolbers, including a child named Farouq Alizadeh, 17 years old, from Rabat city, have been killed in the borders of Baneh city. Also, since the beginning of autumn 70 days, at least 82 Kolbers have been injured by the direct fire from the Iranian border guards on the borders of this city.
According to Hengaw, in the past 250 days, from March 22 to November 26, 2023, sixteen Kolbers have been killed at the border of Baneh. From this list, Rasul Gageshi, a father of five children from Sardasht, and Mohammad Latif Ahmedpour, a 26-year-old Kolber from Baneh, the father of one child, were run over by the vehicles belonging to the Iranian border guards, and 14 others were killed by direct fire. Also, in the past 70 days, at least 82 Kolbers have been wounded on the borders of this city by direct fire from these armed forces.
This report shows that in the last 34 days of this specific period, the killing of Kolbers on the border of Baneh had an exponential trend, and during that period, 6 Kolbers out of the total number of 16 Kolbers were killed by direct fire from Iranian armed forces.
The recent follow-ups of Hengaw show that Mehdi Vahedi, the commander, and Mustafa Moradi, the deputy commander of the Iranian border guards at the border of Baneh, Kurdistan province, played the main roles in directly shooting at the Kolbers. According to the details of this field research, these two military officials have committed the crime of killing Kolbers in several other cases.
Every year, a number of Kolbers in Kurdistan are killed and injured due to falling from a height, frostbite, avalanches, direct fire, and beatings by the Iranian armed forces. Also, a number of them suffer lifelong spine and joint injuries due to carrying heavy loads at uneven heights, and accurate statistics in this regard have not been collected due to a lack of field access.
Hengaw had previously published a film in which the Iranian armed forces, in addition to using weapons such as the Ak-47, also used semi-heavy weapons such as RPGs. On this basis, while expressing concern about the use of semi-heavy weapons by the Iranian Border Guards against the Kolbers, Hengaw calls for an arms and financial embargo on the Iranian Border Guards and the international prosecution of the senior commanders of these forces on charges of crimes against humanity.
