Five Kurds arrested in Oshnavieh and Naqadeh, four remain in detention

Iranian security forces have arrested at least five Kurds in Oshnavieh (Shno) and Naqadeh in recent days. One was released on bail, while the other four remain detained with no information about their whereabouts.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department forces arrested Sadoun Dastari and Moloud Rousta, both from Hasan Nouran village, and Rahman Azarakhsh, 49, from Soufian village, in the early hours of Monday, August 24, 2026.
Hengaw sources said the forces raided their homes and created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation during the arrests. Rousta was released after several hours of interrogation.
Intelligence Department forces also arrested Sanan Farasati, a resident of Oshnavieh, on Sunday, August 23.
The same day, the forces raided the workplace of Salam Azari, also known as Shahin, a 43-year-old Kurdish former political prisoner from Naqadeh, and arrested him using violence.
Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for the arrests, the charges against the four detainees, or their whereabouts. Their families’ efforts to obtain information have been unsuccessful.
