Nafiseh Saadat Yar, a Baha'i adherent residing in Gorgan, Golestan province, has been handed a one-year prison sentence and four years of social rights deprivation by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the first branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Gorgan sentenced Nafiseh Saadat Yar for the charge of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
It is important to note that this year, Nafiseh Saadat Yar faced dismissal from her position as a representative in a private company, a consequence of pressure exerted by the IRGC's intelligence department.
Both Nafiseh Saadat Yar and her husband, Puya Amri, were arrested on February 1, 2023, and subsequently granted temporary release from prison by posting a bail of 500 million tomans pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
Baha'is in Iran, including Nafiseh Saadat Yar, have been subject to systematic pressures and illegal actions by security institutions, involving the confiscation of properties, the closure of businesses, and restrictions on their access to education, in addition to arbitrary arrests.
