Tragic Demise of a Kurdish man in Sanandaj Due to Direct Fire by Iranian Government Forces

A young man from Sanandaj, identified as Kaveh Goyli, lost his life on the street in Sanandaj as a result of direct gunfire by law enforcement forces.

According to a report received by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, on Sunday December 24th, 2023, 37 years old Kaveh Goyli, a resident of Sanandaj, was shot dead on Street 25, shot directly by the city's riot police.

Informed sources state that after the riot police's presence at the scene of a collective conflict in the “25 neighborhood” of Sanandaj, Kaveh Goyli, who had gone out for shopping, was sprayed with pepper spray and subjected to physical assault. These forces eventually shot Kaveh Goyli in the chest, and while severely injured, they dragged him to the  police station 15 precinct and then transferred him to the Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj.

Hengaw has been informed that Kaveh Goyli was transferred to Kowsar Hospital one hour after being taken to the police precinct and succumbed to his injuries. According to sources close to Goyli's family, law enforcement officers have brutally assaulted him after taken him inside the police precinct.

The family's close source further disclosed that security entities have threatened the family not to disclose any information. The funeral ceremony of Kaveh Goyli took place in the village of "Kailaneh," a suburb of Sanandaj, with the extensive presence of security forces.
