The death sentence of Ramin Faqiri, a Kurdish prisoner hailing from Kangavar city in Kermanshah, who had been convicted of drug-related offenses, was carried out at Hamedan Central Prison. With the execution of Faqiri, the total number of prisoners put to death in 2023 has now reached 800.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the morning of Wednesday, December 27, 2023, witnessed the execution of 23-year-old Ramin Faqiri at the central prison in Hamedan.

As per a reliable source, Faqiri had been apprehended two years ago on charges related to drug offenses and subsequently received a death sentence from the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of reporting this news, there has been no official announcement regarding Ramin Faqiri's execution in government-affiliated media, particularly those associated with the judiciary.

Including this recent development, the tally of prisoners executed in Iranian prisons since the commencement of 2023, as documented by the Statistics and Documentation Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, has now reached 800 individuals.
