Execution of Kurdish Prisoner from Paveh in Kermanshah Central Prison

The death sentence of Meysam Habibi, who was previously convicted of premeditated murder, was carried out in Kermanshah Central Prison. This execution marks the twelfth for Kurdish prisoners since the start of January.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Meysam Habibi, a 37-year-old Kurdish prisoner from Paveh, was executed at dawn on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in the Kermashan Central Prison. 

A relative of Meysam Habibi revealed that he had been arrested seven years ago on charges of homicide, leading to a subsequent death sentence by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of reporting, the news of this execution has not been disclosed in government media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary. 

The Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has recorded at least 12 executions of Kurdish prisoners in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the first 10 days of 2024.
