Death of Iman Hasanvand Under Torture in Tehran Police Criminal Investigation Department

A individual from Khorramabad (Lorestan province) identified as Iman Hasanvand died under torture from the Criminal Investigation Department of Tehran Police. This individual was arrested forcefully by the forces of the same department four months ago.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, after 114 days (3 months and 24 days) of imprisonment, Iman Hasanvand, a 30-year-old individual from Khorramabad, died due to severe injuries caused by the torturers of the Criminal Investigation Department of Tehran Police forces. Based on the acquired information from a reliable source, the security forces have called the family of the deceased individual, notifying them of the death of their son and warning them of the possible consequences of any news coverage.

This individual was forcefully arrested while sustaining severe injuries during a raid on his residence by the Criminal Investigation Department of Tehran Police forces on Thursday night, September 21, 2023. Simultaneously, another 32-year-old individual from Khorramabad, identified as Majid Rezaie, was directly shot in the head and killed immediately while trying to escape.

A video was released that depicts a security force shouting at the injured and arrested Iman Hasanvand and forcing him to identify himself. This footage is now with the Hengaw Organization.

Recently, Hengaw published a report clarifying the friendship of the mentioned individuals with another Killed individual from Khorramabad, identified as Iman Hemmati. This 35-year-old individual was killed on May 22, 2023, by baton blows and direct headshots from Tehran police forces.
