The death sentence of a Kurdish inmate identified as Habib Darvishi was implemented in Kermanshah central prison. This individual was taken into custody and faced a death sentence for drug-related crime charges. At least 21 Kurdish inmates have been executed since the beginning of 2024.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, January 16, the death sentence of a 43-year-old Kurdish inmate identified as Habib Darvishi from Sar Firuzabad district of Kermanshah (Krmashan) was implemented in Kermanshah central prison (Dizel Abad).
Based on information from a reliable source, Habib Darvishi was a father of two, and he was taken into custody four years ago under drug-related crime charges. Subsequently, he faced capital punishment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
There has not been any news coverage on this execution as of now, particularly by the government media outlets and those that are affiliated with the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Citing the data collected by the Statistics and Documentation Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, since the beginning of 2024, at least 31 death sentences have been carried out in Islamic Republic of Iran prisons, of which 21 cases (68%) were for Kurdish inmates.
