Following the execution of Iman Shabani from Golestan and Hossein Fethullahzadeh from Tehran, the count of executed prisoners in Ghezel Hesar prison has now reached three.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Wednesday, January 17, 2024, Iman Shabani, a Torkmen individual from Golestan province, and Hossein Fethullahzadeh from Tehran were executed in Ghezel Hesar prison, Karaj.
An informed source revealed that these two prisoners had been arrested four years ago on charges related to drug offenses and subsequently received death sentences from the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Previously, Hengaw had reported on the execution of Karamat Nazarkhani, a 26-year-old Torkmen individual from Aliabad - e Katul, Golestan province, in the same prison. He had been sentenced to death six years ago for homicide.
The news of these three executions has not been officially disclosed in government media, particularly those associated with the judiciary, as of the time of reporting.
