The capital punishment of a female prisoner identified as Zahra Nazarian from Sabzevar was implemented in Sabzevar central prison. This prisoner faced the death penalty under a homicide charge.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the death sentence verdict of Zahra Nazarian was carried out in Sabzevar central prison (Khorasan Razavi province).
According to reliable sources, Zahra Nazarian was taken into custody four years ago under the charge of first-degree murder of her sister's husband and eventually given a capital punishment verdict by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As of now, there has not been any media coverage of this execution by government media outlets, particularly those that are associated with the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Citing the data registered at the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, during 2023, at least 22 female prisoners have been executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
