HENGAW: During the month of August, dozens of Kurdish citizens were detained by Iranian security forces on charges of political, civic and religious activities.

According to the data center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 43 Kurdish citizens were detained by Iranian security forces in different Kurdish cities during August.

One underaged, two students and a teacher are among those detained.


Arrestees based on alleged charge:
Political activists: 39 cases (90%).
Civil advocacy: 1 case (2.3%).
Workers’ Rights advocacy: 1 case (2.3%).
Religious activities: 1 case (2.3%).
Porter (kolber): 1 case (2.3%).

Arrestees based on province:
Kurdistan province: 24 cases.
West Azerbaijan Province: 15 cases.
Kermanshah Province: 2 cases.
Ilam Province: 1 case.
North Khorasan Province: 1 case.
