Marivan: Kurdish citizen faces prison sentence

Hengaw: A Kurdish citizen from Marivan, who was sentenced to prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic

Hengaw: A Kurdish citizen from Marivan, who was sentenced to prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, went to the central prison of Marivan to begin his prison sentence.

According to the report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Zana Kasrayi, a 28-year-old Kurdish citizen from Marivan, went to Marivan Central Prison on December 14, 2021 to begin his one-year sentence.

Zana Kasrayi was arrested by forces of the Ettelaat (Iranian Revolutionary Guard's intelligence service) on July 19, 2020 and released on bail after 22 days in detention.

On January 26, 2021, the Revolutionary Court in Marivan, Kurdistan Province, sentenced Zana Kasrayi to three years in prison for "working with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan". The verdict was later reduced to one year by a court of appeal.
