Iran Executes 25 Kurdish prisoners within an 18-day Span

Since the beginning of May 2024, at least 25 Kurdish prisoners have been executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This brings the total number of executed Kurdish prisoners since the start of 2024 to 72, accounting for 31% of all executions in Iran.
Based on the statistics completed in the Statistics and Documents Center of Hengaw, over the past 18 days, from May 1 to May 18, at least 25 Kurdish individuals have been executed in various prisons across Iran.
Including these recent cases, the total number of Kurdish prisoners executed in Iranian prisons since the beginning of 2024 has reached 72. This figure represents 31% of the 233 prisoners executed in Iran during this period.
Out of the 25 prisoners executed in the past 18 days, 2 were charged with religious activities, 5 with premeditated murder, and 18 with drug-related offenses. These individuals were sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Over the past 18 days, the highest number of Kurdish prisoner executions occurred in Urmia Central Prison (Darya Prison), totaling 9 cases. This is followed by Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, with seven cases. Additionally, 2 Kurdish prisoners were executed in each of the Kermanshah, Ilam, and Selmas prisons, and 1 case each in the Miandoab, Shiraz, and Isfahan prisons.
