Hengaw: Wednesday, December 11, 2024
Khodanazar Rigi (Shanbeh-Zehi), 50, and his son, Abdulbasit Rigi (Shanbeh-Zehi), a university student in Zahedan, were violently arrested by security forces in Mirjaveh, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrests occurred on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, when security forces stormed Khodanazar Rigi’s residence without presenting a search warrant. During the raid, Abdulbasit Rigi was reportedly beaten before being taken into custody. Khodanazar Rigi was arrested as well after protesting the violent and unlawful detention of his son.
The Baloch Activists Campaign reported that Abdulbasit’s arrest appears to be linked to his participation in the Friday prayer at the Grand Mosque of Mirjaveh on December 6, 2024. During the sermon delivered by Moulavi Anwar Rigi, Abdulbasit allegedly voiced objections, which may have drawn the attention of security forces.
As of this report, no information has been made available about the current location or condition of Khodanazar and Abdulbasit Rigi.
