Management student and former political prisoner Shahriar Shams arrested in Tehran

Shahriar Shams, a civil society activist, management student and former political prisoner, has been arrested after security forces raided his family home in Tehran and taken to an undisclosed location.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, officers affiliated with Iran’s Security Police raided Shams’ family home in the early hours of August 10, 2026. The officers searched the residence and confiscated personal belongings, including his mobile phone and laptop, before arresting him.
Shams has previously been arrested by Iranian security agencies in connection with the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and earlier protests and was subsequently sentenced to prison.
No information is available regarding the reason for his latest arrest, the charges against him or his place of detention.
