Number of arrests in Bukan rises to three

With the arrest of another Kurdish man, Kaveh Ostovar, the number of individuals detained in Bukan by security forces has risen to three.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Kaveh Ostovar, a resident of the village of Abbasabad near Bukan, was arrested on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence.

The arrest took place at Ostovar’s residence without the presentation of a search warrant, after which he was transferred to an undisclosed location.

Hengaw had previously reported that in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Hemin Bahrami (36 years old) and Soran Arshad, both fathers of two children and residents of the village of Gololan Olya, were also arrested by intelligence agents.

In both cases, security forces raided the homes of the detainees, creating an atmosphere of fear and apprehension, and carried out the arrests without judicial documentation.

As of the time of this report, no information is available about the reasons for the arrests or the charges against these individuals.
