Security forces arrest 21-year-old Shakhawan Khawari in Marivan

Iranian security forces arrested Shakhawan Khawari, a 21-year-old Kurdish man from Ney village in Marivan, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department forces raided Khawari’s family home in Ney village on the evening of Monday, August 17, 2026, and arrested him without presenting a warrant.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his whereabouts, and his family’s efforts to obtain information have so far been unsuccessful.
