Security forces arrest Ebrahim Golanbar, brother of Kurdish slain protester

Ebrahim Golanbar, a Kurdish man from Javanrud, Kermanshah Province, was arrested by security forces on the Bistoon-Kermanshah highway. His brother, Ismail Golanbar, was killed during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Javanrud.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Golanbar was arrested by security agents while returning from Tehran to Javanrud. The arrest occurred near the Bistoon area, and he was subsequently transferred to an unknown location.
Sources close to the family reported that Golanbar was traveling with his wife at the time of the arrest. While he was detained, his wife was not taken into custody.
It is notable that Ebrahim Golanbar is the brother of Ismail Golanbar, one of the victims of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement in Javanrud. Ismail Golanbar was killed on November 21, 2022, after the funeral of two other protesters in Javanrud. He was shot dead on Behdaari Street by forces of the Kermanshah Nabi Akram Corps.
