Number of Kurdish arrests in Piranshahr rises to four

The number of individuals arrested in Piranshahr has risen to four following the arrest of three additional Kurdish residents by security forces. The detainees, identified as Behzad Mohammadi, Soran Mohammadpour, and Mousa Rasouli, were subjected to violent treatment during the arrests.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrests were carried out in the early hours of Friday, December 27, 2024. Behzad Mohammadi, 27, from the village of Pasveh; Mousa Rasouli, 30, from the village of Khorenj; and Soran Mohammadpour, 25, from Piranshahr, were taken into custody during raids conducted by the Intelligence Department at their homes.
Hengaw had previously reported the arrest of Aram Mohammadi, another resident of Pasveh, who was arrested under similar circumstances.
Sources in Piranshahr have reported that security forces employed intimidation and excessive violence during the arrests. The detainees’ homes were also searched, and personal belongings, including mobile phones, were confiscated.
As of this report, no details have been released regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges against the detainees, or their current whereabouts.
