Prisoner executed in Gorgan Central Prison

The death sentence of Behrouz Mehrani, a 36-year-old Gilak prisoner who was convicted on drug-related charges, was carried out in Gorgan Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place at dawn on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Gorgan, the capital of Golestan Province.

Behrouz Mehrani had been arrested four years ago on charges related to drug offenses and was subsequently sentenced to death.
