Uncertainty surrounds Hassan Ahar, Kurdish resident of Bukan, after arrest

Hassan Ahar, a 45-year-old Kurdish man and father of two from Bukan, has been arrested by security forces for the past two weeks, with his whereabouts still unknown.

According to received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hassan Ahar was arrested at his workplace on Sunday, December 22, 2024, by agents of the Intelligence Department in Bukan. The arrest was carried out without an arrest warrant, and he was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

Fourteen days after his arrest, no information regarding his condition or location has been provided. During this time, Hassan Ahar has been denied the right to contact his family or relatives.

Efforts by his family to obtain information about his situation have been unsuccessful. Security forces have refused to provide clear answers and have issued threats against the family to discourage them from publicizing the matter.
