Elham Abbasi, a 21-year-old Kurdish woman from Piranshahr, has been arrested by security forces for nearly two months and remains in indefinite detention in the women’s ward of Urmia Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Elham Abbasi was arrested in mid-November 2024. After her initial detention by the Intelligence Office in Piranshahr, she was transferred to Urmia Central Prison, also known as Darya Prison.

Despite the passage of two months, no clear progress has been made in her legal case, and her legal status remains unresolved.

A source close to her family revealed that her arrest is believed to be linked to her social media activities, where she expressed opinions on political and social issues. However, the specific charges against her have not been disclosed.
