Kurdish man fatally shot by security forces in Qasr -e Shirin

Mohammad Azizi, a 34-year-old Kurdish man from Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Province (Kirmaşan), was shot and killed by Special Police Forces (Yegan-e Vizhe) and “NOPO” (Guardians of the Islamic Jurist Special Forces) at the Parvizkhan Border Market. He was killed with three bullets in a direct attack.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at 11 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2025, Special Police Forces and NOPO stormed the Parvizkhan Border Market in Qasr-e Shirin and shot Mohammad Azizi with a barrage of bullets, killing him on the spot.

A close relative of Mohammad Azizi told Hengaw:
“Mohammad, born in 1990, was unmarried. He was shot three times in the chest and abdomen with a Kalashnikov rifle, and he died instantly.”

Hengaw has learned that Mohammad Azizi had an altercation with law enforcement officers the previous week. On the night of the incident, security forces raided the Parvizkhan Border Market intending to arrest him. When he refused to surrender, they fatally shot him three times.

The forces operated under a shoot-to-kill directive issued by Ali Rostami, the prosecutor of Qasr-e Shirin, in an effort to apprehend him.
