Kurdish singer Khbat Fadaei violently arrested in Marivan

Khbat Fadaei, a Kurdish singer from the village of Buridar in Sarvabad and a former detainee of the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement, was violently arrested by Iranian forces outside his home in Marivan and transferred to an undisclosed location.

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that Iranian forces arrested Fadaei outside his home in Marivan on the evening of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, using violence and without presenting a warrant. He was then taken to an undisclosed location.

The reasons for his latest arrest and his current whereabouts remain unknown.

Fadaei was previously arrested by security forces in Tehran on September 24, 2022, during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. After interrogation, he was transferred to Evin Prison and eventually released on bail on November 14, 2022.

He was later sentenced by Branch 1 of the Varamin Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ashkan Ramesh, to one year in prison for “propaganda against the state” and five years for “membership in groups and associations with the aim of disrupting national security,” totaling six years’ imprisonment.
