Security forces arrest Kurdish blogger Sirwan Parvizi in Ilam

Sirwan Parvizi, a satirical blogger and social media activist from Ilam, has been arrested by security forces for criticizing the country’s fragile economic situation.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, IRGC Intelligence forces raided Sirwan Parvizi’s family home in Ilam on Sunday, January 5, 2025, and arrested him.

The arrest is reportedly linked to a satirical Instagram post in which Sirwan criticized the economic conditions under the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Efforts by Sirwan’s family to gather information about his whereabouts or secure his temporary release have so far been unsuccessful. The IRGC Intelligence has refused to provide any clarification regarding his status or condition.
