Omid Hassani, a 22-year-old civilian who was detained during the Sanandaj City protests, was tortured to death by IRGC forces a few hours after his arrest.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, November 17, 2022, a 22-year-old Sanandaj citizen named Omid Hassani died as a result of torture after being arrested by the IRGC.

An informed source at Tawheed Hospital in Sanandaj said that Omid Hassani was transported unconscious by IRGC forces to Tohid Hospital and had not shown any vital signs while he was there.

After a little while, the IRGC forces seized the body without giving the family any notice. According to this report, Omid Hassani was brutally battered in the head and neck, but the IRGC prevented the medical staff to take photos of his body.

Hengaw has been informed that the body of Omid Hassani was buried in the Behesht Mohammadi Cemetery in Sanandaj on Friday evening, November 18, 2022, with only two of his family members present.
