Baloch detainee Abdollah Poreki killed under torture in Mehrestan Intelligence Ministry custody

Abdollah Poreki, a 19-year-old Baloch man from Mehrestan County in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, died under torture two days after being detained in the custody of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry in Mehrestan.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Poreki was killed on Thursday, February 19, 2026, as a result of severe torture inflicted by Intelligence Ministry agents. He was a resident of Kont village in Sib and Soran County and the father of a six-month-old child.

On the same day, Intelligence authorities summoned his family by telephone, threatened them, and handed over his body.

According to the Halvsh news outlet, visible signs of severe physical abuse were found on his body, including fractures and burn marks. Sources state that he died as a result of intense beatings during detention. Reported injuries included fractures to his mouth, teeth, and legs.

Poreki had been arrested on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in front of a repair shop in Mehrestan and transferred to the local Intelligence detention facility.

No official explanation has been provided regarding the reason for his arrest, and government authorities have made no public statement concerning his death in custody.
