According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, 13th March 2023, Rasul Karimi, one of the detained citizens of the recent protests in Ilam, attempted to commit suicide by taking pills in the central prison of Ilam.

According to an informed source, Rasul Karimi attempted to commit suicide in protest of his case’s abeyance in prison and the Iranian government institutions' opposition to his temporary release.  Today, he was summoned to the third branch of the investigation of Ilam, and Judge Gholam Hosseini opposed his temporary release.

After washing Rasoul Karimi's stomach, he is now in the intensive care unit of Razi Hospital in Ilam.

Rasul Karimi was kidnapped by IRGC intelligence forces in January 2023 and was later transferred to Ilam Central Prison.

Hengaw previously announced in a report that the intelligence of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards is "framing a security file" for Rasul Karimi, and they have accused him of charges such as "armed action", and that he has been subjected to severe torture.
