Statistics: An Afgan citizen’s death sentence was carried out in KhoramAbad prison

The execution of an Afghan citizen charged with murder in Khorramabad Central Prison has raised the total executions in this facility to four in one day. Over the past five months, at least seven Afghan citizens have been executed in Iranian prisons.
 

According to a report received by the Hengaw organization for human rights, Najaf Sulaiman Rashad, an Afghan citizen, was executed at dawn on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Khorramabad prison.
 

The Iranian Human Rights Organization states that this prisoner had been previously arrested and convicted of premeditated murder, resulting in a retribution sentence by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 

Simultaneously, three other prisoners who had been sentenced to death for homicide were also executed in Khorramabad prison. The identity of one of them has been confirmed as Ali Khorramshah Emrai.
 

With these recent executions, the total number of prisoners executed in Khorramabad Central Prison has reached at least four. In the past four days alone, six prisoners have been executed in this prison.
 

According to data registered in the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least seven Afghan citizens have been executed in Iranian prisons this year, within less than five months. The charges leading to these executions include murder and drug trafficking.
