Four Baloch detainees from Zahedan’s Bloody Friday sentenced to combined 17 years

Hamidreza Kouhkan, Mohammad Kharout Din-Mohammadi (Hareth Kharout), Ahmadali Kouhkan, and Khaled Kashani, four Baloch individuals detained in connection with the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement and the events following Zahedan’s “Bloody Friday,” have been sentenced to a combined 17 years and one day in prison.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 103 of the Zahedan Criminal Court II, presided over by Judge Mehdi Jalilifar, handed down the sentences in a ruling dated August 23, 2026.
The court sentenced Hamidreza Kouhkan, Kharout Din-Mohammadi, and Ahmadali Kouhkan to five years in prison each, with time already served counted toward Hamidreza Kouhkan’s sentence. Kashani initially received a five-year sentence, which was reduced to two years and one day due to his lack of a prior record and suspended for three years.
All four were charged with “participation in the intentional destruction of public and state property,” including municipal signs. Kashani also faced a charge of “complicity in the destruction of a banner depicting the leader of the Islamic Republic and the burning of public premises.”
The Sistan and Baluchestan Province Intelligence Department and the Zahedan Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office initiated the case against the four detainees.
Ahmadali Kouhkan, 27, was wounded during Zahedan’s Bloody Friday on September 30, 2022, when two live rounds struck his pelvis and lower back. The bullets remain lodged in his body. After filing a complaint against security forces, he was arrested in April 2024 and subjected to severe physical torture.
Hamidreza Kouhkan, 49, was arrested with his wife in February 2024. While held in Ward 4 of Zahedan Central Prison, he sustained a severe hand injury and infection as a result of torture.
Kharout Din-Mohammadi was under 18 when arrested in February 2024 and was later temporarily released on bail.
