January protest detainee Keyvan Bana imprisoned to serve 10-year sentence

Keyvan Bana, a 21-year-old from Khaf and a detainee from the January 2026 protests, has been arrested to serve his sentence of 10 years and one day and transferred to Torbat-e Heydarieh Central Prison in Razavi Khorasan Province.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has learned that Bana was arrested on Sunday, August 30, 2026, after being summoned to the Sentence Enforcement Branch of the court in Khaf and transferred to Torbat-e Heydarieh Central Prison to serve his sentence.

Security forces initially arrested Bana during the widespread January 2026 protests. He was later temporarily released on bail and subsequently sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to 10 years and one day in prison on charges including “propaganda against the state,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” “acting against national security,” and allegations related to “espionage.”
