With the execution of Fatemeh Yousef Abadi at Rajaei-Shahr Prison in Karaj the total number of women executed in Iran in the past seven months reached 10 cases.
According to information received by the Hangaw Organization for Human Rights, at Dawn on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, the death sentence of Fatemeh Yousef Abadi, who had previously been convicted of premeditated murder, was carried out at Rajaei-Shahr Prison in Karaj.
It is worth mentioning that yesterday, Fatemeh Yousef Abadi, along with another woman, was transferred from Qarchak Varamin Prison to solitary confinement at Rajaei-Shahr Prison in Karaj for carrying out the sentence. The other prisoner has since been returned to the general prison.
According to the Statistics and Documentation Center of the Hengaw, since the beginning of 2023 (less than 7 months), at least 10 women have been executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
