Iranian Journalist Receives Six-Year Prison Sentence

An Iranian journalist, identified as Ali Moslehi, from Kashan city in Isfahan province, has been sentenced to six years and two months of imprisonment.

An Iranian journalist, identified as Ali Moslehi, from Kashan city in Isfahan province, has been sentenced to six years and two months of imprisonment.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ali Moslehi was recently convicted by the revolutionary and criminal courts of Kashan, receiving a combined sentence of six years and two months.

The revolutionary court of Kashan imposed a 15-month and one-day incarceration sentence for "dishonoring Khamenei," the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with a seven-month and one-day sentence for "propaganda against the government," with a five-year suspension period.

Concurrently, Moslehi received a three-year and one-month sentence for "profanity against sanctities" and a one-year and three-month sentence for "slander," as ruled by the criminal court of Kashan city.

Under the law of sentences consolidation, the most severe punishment, amounting to three years and one month of imprisonment, is fully enforceable for this journalist.

Moslehi was apprehended by security forces on July 20, 2023, and subsequently transferred from the intelligence department's detention center to the central prison of Kashan. He was released on bail on September 23, 2023, pending the conclusion of his trial.
