Ardabil – Turkish journalist Iraj Pashapour sentenced to prison and banned from social media

The Iranian authorities have sentenced Turkish journalist Iraj Pashapour, from Germi in Ardabil Province, to nine months in prison and imposed an additional one-year ban on his use of social media.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Germi convicted Pashapour on August 10, 2025, on the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered that he be prohibited from social media activity for one year as a complementary punishment. The trial session had been held in June.
Pashapour was previously arrested on June 20, 2024, by agents of the Intelligence Office on accusations of “membership in groups opposed to national security” and “propaganda against the system.” He was held in Germi Prison before being released on bail of 500 million tomans.
