Kurdish Individual Receives Three-Year Prison Sentence

Taregh Rahimpour, a Kurdish resident of Sanandaj, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Taregh Rahimpour, 39 years old, from the village of "Avihang" in the suburbs of Sanandaj and a resident of this city, was sentenced by the First Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, presided over by Judge Karami, on charges of "propaganda against the government" and "membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan" to three years of suspended imprisonment.

According to a trusted source, the Sanandaj Intelligence department has yet to return some personal belongings, including Taregh Rahimpour's mobile phone.

Rahimpour's family was deprived of visiting him during his detention period, and he was subjected to torture in the detention center with the aim of obtaining forced confessions.

This individual was violently arrested during a raid by twelve personnel of the Intelligence department at his shop in the city of Sanandaj on Thursday, September 20, 2023.

He was temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison on Tuesday, October 23, 2023, after depositing bail of one billion tomans pending the end of the trial process.
