Iran Authorities Arrest Kurdish Man for Imprisonment

Arman Towbeh-Kar, a detainee during with the Jin Jiyan Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement in the Rabet district of Sardasht County, has been arrested to serve his one-year imprisonment sentence and has been transferred to Mahabad Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Sunday, May 5, 2024, 23-year-old Arman Towbeh-Kar from Rabet was summoned, arrested, and subsequently transferred to Mahabad Central Prison to commence his sentence.

Arman Towbeh-Kar was initially detained in October 2022 during the Jin Jiyan Azadi movement by security agencies and was granted temporary release on bail after a few days. Ultimately, in November 2022, he was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court 2 of Sardasht for "disturbing public order," resulting in a two-year imprisonment term.

Hengaw has learned that, subsequent to an appeal, his sentence was reduced to one year of imprisonment.
