Tehran: Arrest of Hoora Nikbakht, University Lecturer and Women's Rights Activist

Hoora Nikbakht, publisher, university lecturer, and women's rights activist, was arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran last week.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Hoora Nikbakht, publisher and director of "Mashgh-e Barabari" publishing house, was arrested after being summoned to the "law enforcement authorities" in Tehran.

Hoora Nikbakht had previously published her summons notice on the social network "X," where she was accused of "insulting Khamenei" and "propaganda against the government."

This university lecturer and well-known women's rights activist was transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison in Tehran after her summons and arrest.
