Three Kurdish religious activists from Bukan, named Soleyman Adhami, Hossein Khosravi, and Hiwa Nouri, who were arrested in January 2024, by Iranian security forces in Bukan, have been accused of "rebellion" by the Iranian Judiciary, with the potential for severe sentences, including the death penalty.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the three Kurdish religious activists from Bukan, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province, Soleyman Adhami, Hossein Khosravi, and Hiwa Nouri, who were arrested last winter and are currently held in the central prison of Urmia, have been accused by the First Branch of the  Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia of charges such as "rebellion," membership in the extremist Islamic group Ansar al-Sunnah, and "propaganda against the government."

With the accusation of rebellion against these three Kurdish religious prisoners, their lives are at risk. Based on such charges, they could potentially face the death penalty or other severe punishments, including the amputation of the right hand and left foot.

According to an informed source, these three religious activists were severely tortured by Iranian intelligence interrogators during their three-month detention at the Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia to extract forced confessions against themselves and were deprived of any right to access a lawyer or meet with their families.

These three religious activists were violently arrested by the Iranian Intelligence forces in Bukan on Monday, January 29, 2024, and transferred to the detention center of this security agency in Urmia.

After three months of detention at the Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia, Soleyman Adhami, Hossein Khosravi, and Hiwa Nouri were transferred to Urmia Central Prison, where they are currently held without the right to leave.
